I bought a new laptop with Windows Vista. My old one has XP. I bought a cable to transfer data that you can transfer from XP to Vista. It didn't say on the package that you had to have XP SP2 which I didn't have. No problem, I ordered it from Microsoft. Well got the CD and it won't load on my old computer. All it will say is 'file not found' but won't give me a file.

I also have Netscape, and I don't need www for that.

For example, if I use IE 7.0 to type in louisaonline.com in the address bar, I immediately get the following message:

"Windows cannot find 'louisaonline.com'. Check the spelling and try again."

It doesn't even try to find it, it immediately pops up.

Ok, here's my problem: I am transferring files from a floppy to a CD (which is CD-RW). So far, I don't have a problem. When I try to edit the files on the CD, it suddenly becomes "read only". I have looked everywhere I know to look on my computer (desktop and laptop) to make sure the "read only" boxes are unchecked - they all were. It's one of those E machines. I moved her stuff around and got everything connected again and it was working fine.
